Hormonal Changes, Fertility, Pregnancy & Life Transitions

When Your Body and Your Life Are Changing at the Same Time
Some seasons of life bring changes that are physical, emotional, relational, and sometimes difficult to separate from one another.
Fertility journeys, fertility treatment, pregnancy, birth and postpartum adjustment, perimenopause, menopause, and other hormonal or life-stage changes can intersect with anxiety, mood, relationships, identity, grief, expectations, and the way you feel about yourself.
Sometimes the change is something you’ve desperately wanted. Sometimes it’s something you never expected.
And sometimes you can be grateful for what’s happening and still be struggling with it.
There isn’t one right way to experience any of these transitions.
YOUR EXPERIENCE DOESN’T NEED TO MATCH ANYONE ELSE’S
One of the things I don’t want to do in therapy is tell you how you’re supposed to feel.
A fertility journey can include hope, disappointment, anger, grief, uncertainty, or exhaustion.
Pregnancy can be joyful and also bring anxiety or complicated emotions.
Becoming a parent can involve enormous love while also changing your identity, relationships, body, routines, and sense of independence.
Perimenopause and menopause can bring another set of physical and emotional changes while the rest of your life continues right alongside them.
Two things can be true at the same time.
You can love your life and still struggle with parts of it.
You can want something deeply and resent what it takes to get there.
You can be grateful and overwhelmed.
You don’t have to clean up those contradictions before bringing them to therapy.

THERAPY THAT MAKES ROOM FOR THE WHOLE PERSON
Whatever transition brings you here, it isn’t the only thing about you.
Your relationships matter. Your history matters. Your culture may matter. Your hopes, fears, responsibilities, personality, and the rest of your life come into the room too.
We’ll talk about what’s happening now and what may help practically. When it’s useful, we’ll also look at the patterns, experiences, expectations, or fears underneath what you’re feeling.
I draw from CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused approaches, and other evidence-based practices based on what fits you and what you’re experiencing.
You are more than the transition you’re going through.
You Don’t Have to Know Exactly What You Need Yet.
If you’re navigating a hormonal or life-stage change, fertility journey, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, perimenopause, or menopause and would like support, we can start with a conversation.
