Teens & Young Adults Therapy

Growing Up Doesn’t Happen All at Once
The teenage years and early adulthood can bring an enormous amount of change.
School, friendships, relationships, family expectations, anxiety, identity, college, work, independence, and figuring out where you fit can all be happening at the same time.
Sometimes a teen or young adult knows exactly what they’re struggling with.
Other times, they just know they haven’t been feeling like themselves.
Therapy can give them a place to talk honestly with someone outside of their everyday life without feeling like they have to have everything figured out.
A PLACE TO BE YOURSELF
I genuinely enjoy working with teens and young adults.
I don’t believe therapy with this age group should feel like another adult sitting across from them telling them what they’re doing wrong.
I want to understand what’s happening from their perspective.
We’ll talk about what’s going on, identify patterns, build practical coping and communication skills, and work toward helping them understand themselves and handle difficult situations more effectively.
Sometimes our conversations are serious.
Sometimes we laugh.
Usually, there’s room for both.
WE MAY WORK ON
• Anxiety, worry, and overthinking
• Stress related to school, college, or work
• Friendships and relationships
• Family changes or conflict
• Self-esteem and identity
• Communication and boundaries
• Life transitions
• Increasing independence and responsibility
• Coping with difficult emotions
• Understanding recurring patterns and reactions

FOR PARENTS
When your teenager is struggling, it can be difficult to know when to step in, when to give them space, and what kind of support they need.
Therapy gives your teen a relationship of their own where they can speak openly and build skills, while parents remain an important part of the larger picture.
At the beginning of therapy, we’ll talk clearly about confidentiality, communication, and what parents can expect so everyone understands how the process works.
YOUNG ADULTHOOD IS ITS OWN TRANSITION
Turning 18 doesn’t magically make life simple.
Young adulthood can mean leaving home, starting college or work, navigating relationships, making decisions independently, developing an adult identity, and discovering that everyone else may be figuring things out as they go too.
Therapy can be a place to sort through those changes, understand yourself more clearly, and decide how you want to move forward.
You Don’t Have to Have Everything Figured Out Yet.
Whether you’re a young person looking for support yourself or a parent looking for help for your teen, we can start with a conversation.
